shhhh .... my friends (mako and her husband youichi) are sleeping right next to me - of course since we have been waking up at 6am every morning - I woke up at 7am. I slept 8 hours!! I have not got more than 5 since I arrived. I feel refreshed and ready to go. we are going to see shidara today. I am a little nervous. nervous about meeting them - wanting to make sure ONE makes a good first impression with this group. shidara lives in the mountains and from what I can tell is one of the fastest growing groups. I want to help them with their US tour in 2010. We brought lots of omiyage and special treats for Megan.
Yesterday Mako took me to meet Urara another co-counselor. The three of us had a session and I got to think about my grandfather who was raised in Yokohama and the fact that he never got a chance to return. Most of his family was killed in an earthquake/fire in Yokohama when he was 20. He then went to the US. His father was Chinese so when WWII happened he could pass and had to hide himself and his family so they would not be sent to the camps. I have been thinking about him a lot lately - I am the first in my family to have a chance to be in Japan. Later we met Meichan and Youichi for dinner. I am lucky to be here.
I better end now - time to get ready for todays big adventure!
