Shidara videos

A few videos (yay blogger is working!) to give you a sense of Shidara.

Meet Chabo-san the leader of Shidara! She is a total ham!

We had spent the day with them getting ready for an evening concert. They made a mistake in one of their songs and were visibly bummed, it was a very quiet one hour ride home in the van. The next morning Chabo-san and Mameko-san sat me down and deeply apologized because they wanted to perform well for their guests who had come from Boston to visit them see them play. It was hard to know how to respond.

Matt caught a cold and had to stay home from the concert (so bummed!) we were gone from 2a-11p and had several more travel days so it was good that he rested.

Inside their school house where they live, work, and practice. They were just offered a much bigger school (the town is dropping in population and there are not enough children) so they will make plans to expand soon.

Even though they were busy with their concert planning and rehearsing for their US presenters concert - they took a moment to show Beth and I how to tie shime.

The video couldn't quite capture the beauty of Toei. Imagine waking up and seeing a wall of forest and mountains surrounded by whisps of fog and clouds everywhere.
